A beautiful point.  How efficient is the post office?  How efficient are most government-run organizations?  How quickly can you expect service, and what happens when there is no competition?

Simple, no competition equals no reason to compete – to strive for efficiencies, profitability, or extraordinary service.  If there is no incentive, then there will be nothing done.

If you haven’t read Atlas Shrugged, you should really pick up a copy.  I, personally, have a heart, and have contributed to many need-worthy organizations.  I however, whole-heartedly believe that we are turning into a Nanny-State that protects the weakling, MORE than protecting those that work hard.  I have experienced this myself, and I don’t like it one bit.  Because I am middle-class and because I am not categorized as a “minority”, I have been abandoned for many opportunities, both financial and educational.

There are many issues on the plate right now, all of them with Big Brother gaining more control and power – HEALTH CARE, INTERNET FREEDOM, THE FOOD SUPPLY, THE CAR INDUSTRY, THE BANKING INDUSTRY, ETC.

Check your premises, and start organzing like-minded individuals, we have a Country to win back.

Anything that is made up of artificial ingredients to appear to be another food are generally bad for you.  The best example of this may be margarine.  And artificial sweeteners.  And artificial flavors or flavor-enhancers (i.e. MSG – monosodium glutamate).  And fake meats.  And fake cheese.  Etc.

Don’t eat this bad stuff, and find a local farmer/rancher where you can buy REAL FOOD!

Okay, so perhaps the picture is a little dramatic, but hey, it caught your attention, didn’t it?

Today I was forwarded a wonderful article on a teacher speaking out against the drab food that is a part of our public education’s lunch system.  The variables are complex (subsidized lunches, funding from both state and national governments, purchasing/volume requirements, marketing, mark-ups, profits, and federal requirements), but the problem is not.

The problem is that our kids (in general) are not engaging in a healthy diet.  Now, that is NOT just education’s fault, as a matter of fact our “social structure” is very much a culprit.  However, I myself have recently been in an elementary classroom, and our youth are eating a lot of foods that are not good for them (processed foods to wrap it into one category).

One teacher in Colorado, is speaking up and speaking out.  An naturally, she is getting resistance from others because of her actions.  However, it takes people – from our community – to make a difference and to stand up for nutrition, produce, and supporting local agriculture whenever and wherever we can.

Here you will find many promotions, endorsements, and shout-outs for people, products, and services that I whole-heartedly believe in.  I may make money from that.  I may make money from writing this book (as a matter of fact, that is part of the point).  I believe in making money because if I can become a millionaire by spreading good information that helps other people to improve their quality of life (namely, by making more money and keeping more of the money that they earn), then that is a good thing.

Also, the more money I have in the bank, the more people that I can help.  I am a firm believer in charities and social welfare.  I don’t think that government should be in charge of that – I think that capitalists – people who work hard and earn money – should be in charge of where their money goes, including helping people and causes that are dear to them.  There are thousands of examples of extraordinarily rich people giving back to their community and to special causes.  If we have more people with more money to give, I am certain that we will continue to see the charitable spirit reflected in our society.  Human nature is easily argued either way – whether people are intrinsically good or evil.  This a philosophical debate by nature, one which will not be debated here.  What I am saying is that if the government is in charge of making and keeping over 300,000,000 Americans happy, when there are 435 Congressmen/women and 100 Senators, then we are looking at a fairly bleak ratio of face-time for all of these people’s wants, needs, hopes, and desires.  Charity should be local, and something that is born of the community – NOT something that is mandated as SOCIAL JUSTICE in the name of the American people’s tax-dollar.

Money and values make the world go around – it is at the heart of every transaction – it is the reason that we are able to enjoy a quality of life with the “stuff” that we like.  Making money and creating value are virtuous acts that our forefathers and ancestors have been a part of.  There is no shame in that.  There is also no shame is respecting your time, labor, and what you earn from that.  No one should be able to take that away from you.

In a story posted on Farm Wars, it appears that a case will be take all the way to the Supreme Court, to determine the safety of Genetically Engineered (GE) crops.  The GE crops’ parent, Monsanto, has been under fire from the Center for Food Safety (CFS).

There has been much debate about the safety of GE crops, especially the impacts on natural ecological and biological cycles.  There is research abound on the topic, a quick search on Google Scholar will bring up some of the debate. A good place to start for some data and research on the safety of genetically engineered foods can be found in Food Toxicology (Engeseth, 2001)

Watching the debates go back and forth via news-commentary, as well as within the offices of our Country’s government, it is appalling to me to see that there are so many questions around the increase of troops in Afghanistan.

I love our troops, God, I love our troops.  These are the people that sacrifice their lives to defend our freedoms.  I can tell you right now, that I, as a concerned citizen, want our soldiers to have the PEOPLE and EQUIPMENT that they need to fight.

There is no greater insult to the men and women of our Country, than to abandon them in their time of need.  Period.  It is disgusting.   I am not a general, I am not the President, I am not a soldier, but I do know, that those troops out there deserve their Country to back them, and it better happen.  Or, in honor of Sarah Palin, I have to say, that, there will be a very special place in hell for those people making decisions that hurt our troops.

Is it possible to not believe in climate change but to believe that we should not pollute our air as much?

Is it possible to be a “tree-hugger” and want to protect our second-amendment rights?

Is it possible to be a border-line vegetarian but love to hunt?
